Travel Itinerary

Arrival: Arrival in Rovaniemi Lapland and check-in to central hotel

  • Your local guide will welcome you at the airport/train station for your arrival and transfer you to your chosen accommodation. On the way you will stop to receive your winter clothes (Thermal clothing set: overalls, boots, woolen socks, gloves).

  • Check-in to your hotel and spend some time resting up before joining your guide for a quick meet and greet winter holiday info at the hotel lounge.

  • Spend the rest of the day relaxing and exploring the city center.

 

DAY 1: Visit to Arktikum museum and Husky Farm

  • After your filling breakfast we will start the day off with a visit to the Arktikum museum to learn all about the history of Finnish Lapland and gain a better understanding of the Arctic region you will be exploring on your Lapland Holiday.

  • Lunch will be served in a local cozy restaurant.  

  • Then we will head down to an authentic ecological Husky Farm to be welcomed by a pack of fluffy Siberian and Alaskan huskies and their mushers. You will also learn all about the life of a husky musher and everything there is to know about the amazing dogs. As the main event of the day, you will be taken on a thrilling 5km Husky sleigh ride through the beautiful surrounding winter wonderland!

  • Your guide will bring you back to your accommodation and you can spend the rest of the afternoon and evening as you wish.

 

DAY 2: Ice Breaker Cruise

  • We will start the day by a driving towards Sweden, to a harbor village by the Bothnian Bay. We will reach the shores of the frozen sea where we will head to the Polar Explorer Ice Breaker. You will board the Ice Breaker for a 3h cruise in which you are free to explore the magnificent vessel down from the engine rooms all the way up to the captain’s bridge. You will get to walk on the unbroken ice in the middle of the frozen sea as well as try out a special suit to float in the dark icy water.

  • Enjoy the beautiful sunset on the way back to Rovaniemi and relax after a long day of exploring the Arctic. Spending some time in a traditional Finnish sauna at your hotel is a great way to finish the day off.  

 

DAY 3: Reindeer farm visit, Ice hotel visit and Northern lights Tour

  • This morning we will drive some 50km to a local family Reindeer farm. There you will be introduced to the life of a native reindeer herder and learn all about the most important animal in Lapland. You will be taken to a fun 2km reindeer sleigh ride into the surrounding peaceful forest. After the ride there it’s time to feed and pet the reindeer as a reward for the day’s work. A delicious homemade Lappish lunch will be served in the warmth of the spacious Family Kota. Before waving goodbye there will be some time to visit the farms little souvenir shop.

  • After visiting the farm, we will continue to the spectacular Ice hotel. A unique structure built entirely from snow and ice. Every year the hotel is designed and sculpted according to a different theme. On this tour you will be impressed by the building and architecture capabilities in snow and ice. Walk among the unique rooms of the hotel and its main buildings: the Ice Chapel, the Ice Restaurant and maybe try a frozen drink at the Ice Bar.

  • Back in the city there will be some time to relax, freshen up and have a nice dinner before it’s time to head out for the exciting Northern Lights Tour. On this tour your private guide will drive you away from the city lights to find the perfect spot to view the Lapland Northern Lights. The direction and destination of the evening will be determined based on real time forecasts.
    *Please note that the activity, intensity or the colors of the northern lights cannot be guaranteed as they occur as a natural phenomenon.

 

DAY 4: Visit at Ranua Zoo and a Winter Forest Walk

  • After breakfast it’s time to Meet all the Arctic Animals and the great Polar Bear. Ranua Wildlife Park is a zoo that opened in 1983 and focuses on arctic wildlife. You can see up to 50 arctic animals species in the most natural surroundings possible. You will learn about the different animals and will get to see a real polar bear. At the end of the tour we will have lunch at the Ranua Wild Arctic Restaurant. 

  • In the afternoon we will head to the Arctic Circle Hiking Area for a magical Winter Forest Walk. You will feel the stillness and tranquility of the winter forest and get to experience the breathtaking sound of silence. On this hike there will be plenty of time for beautiful pictures of the snowy landscape. You will stop by a wilderness fireplace for a cup of hot beverages where your guide will show you how to make fire in the traditional way.

 

DAY 5: Santa Claus Village, Snowmobile Safari with Ice Fishing Experience

  • Your private guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast to take you to one of the most popular places in all of Lapland, The Santa Claus Village! Feel the magical Lapland Christmas spirit, cross the famous line into the Arctic Circle, meet Santa Claus and send a postcard from his main post office.

  • Lunch will be served at a cozy restaurant at the village. After which we will continue to the Snowmobile safari starting point just a short walk away. There you will be given all the necessary equipment and safety instructions for your snowmobile adventure. This safari takes you through the snowy forest, across frozen lakes and rivers to discover stunning winter landscapes and untouched nature. You will stop on a frozen lake where your guide will teach you how to ice fish like a true local!

  • Back at the accommodation you have free time to explore and relax.  

 

DAY 6: Korouoma Canyon and Ice Waterfalls

  • After a filling breakfast at the resort, you will head down towards Korouoma Canyon and Ice Waterfalls. This adventurous day trip is one of the greatest spectacles Lapland has to offer. You will hike down to the 130 meters deep canyon fracture valley and get to witness the tallest ice waterfalls in Finland. After the hike and beautiful pictures, you will stop by a wilderness campfire where your guide will cook a tasty Finnish BBQ lunch before heading back to Rovaniemi.

  • Once back in Rovaniemi, you will have the evening to yourself for last minute shopping in the city or just relax and enjoy the calming atmosphere.

 

Departure: Check-out and Transfer to the Airport

  • Breakfast at the resort and check-out.

  • Free time until it’s time to head to the Rovaniemi airport/train station. Your private guide will take you and wave goodbye as you leave Lapland with amazing experiences and memories in your pocket.
