We will go hunting for the Northern lights by car which gives you the best chances of seeing the lights. On this tour we will drive away from the city's light pollution deeper into the Aurora zone. We will plan out each hunt separately based on real time forecasts. As a private group we have the flexibility to go wherever we want according to changing weather conditions. Your guide will be carrying a professional camera and share all the photos from the tour with you.

After your pickup/arrival from your accommodation to the safari house you will receive thermal overalls and other necessary equipment such as winter boots, gloves, and socks. Your tour starts in a comfortable minibus driven by a professional guide who will take you hunting for the Northern Lights far away from Rovaniemi city lights, and deeperinto the Aurora Zone. 

Each tour is unique as they are planned based on real time weather forecasts and solar activity reports. The destinations based on the analysis made by your experienced guide will give you a better chance to witness this natural phenomenon. Sometimes your guide may drive you even 100km away from Rovaniemi area to for the nights most promising Aurora spot. The weather conditions are checked even during the tour and location adjustments can be made on the go. The duration of the program is around 4 hours, depending on the changing weather conditions and the success of our hunt. 

During the tour, you will have an opportunity to warm up by a fireplace in the nature. Your guide might even teach you how to light a fire without a lighter or matches. As you wait for the Northern Lights to magically appear in the night sky, your guide will explain you the science behind the Aurora Borealis as well as the traditional Lappish folklore for the magical light show in the starry sky. You will get to grill your own sausages by the open fire and enjoy some hot beverages to keep you warm. 

Your guide will also bring a professional camera and teach you how to take beautiful pictures of the Northern Lights with your own camera as well. All the photos from the tour will be available for download the next day. Program details:

The duration of the program is around 4 hours, depending on the changing weather conditions and the success of our hunt. 

The tour suits people of all ages. But we recommend children under 10-years-old not to participate due to the late hours and cold conditions of the tour.
